The island of Palermo is expected to sign a new deal with St. Mary’s, according to the newspaper Corriere della Sera.
The Serie A club are believed to be in the final stages of a deal to sign the 23-year-old midfielder.
The deal is reported to be worth €7 million per season, but St. Martins president Massimo Ferrero has revealed he has been approached by several interested clubs.
It is thought that the St. Martin will agree to an extension on the terms of his current deal, but it is not known if the deal will be signed at this time.
The news comes a day after Palermos striker Paolo Cannavaro was released on loan to the Parma squad.
The Italian international, who scored in the 4-0 win over Roma, is still under contract at the San Siro.
